I welcome the opportunity to engage in dialogue with other seekers who look beyond outworn dogmas of both nineteenth-century science and fundamentalist religions. We are engaged in a world-changing shift that will move us toward understanding that we are part of a larger family–all sentient beings on this fragile world, our island home. Human individuals may well be cells in a larger body, that of Gaia, the Earth, which in turn may be a cell in the body of the universe as a whole. I hope our literary work will help readers imagine a far richer reality than the one to which the previous spirit-bereft age conditioned us.

I’m still unsure whether my work is Visionary Fiction. My novel has a life after death theme, but no magic. Is there anyway for me to get clearer on whether my novel fits this genre? Thank you, Rachel

Somehow I missed the email with the web badge! I just found it and am adding the badge to my site, along with a blog post about VFA. My author site has always had a definition of Visionary fiction reference along with a link to the VFA. I’m so happy to see how this alliance is growing! We are truly needed in this world of media violence and “(empty) sex sells.”
After recent updates and revamping of both my book covers and website, I have made a note to submit some of my work for reviews, and to return here often.

p.s. I can’t seem to connect VFA with my author page on Facebook – it keeps wanting to connect to my personal profile rather than my author page. Also tried to join the Visionary Fiction Authors closed group, but again it wouldn’t let me in except under my personal profile, not my author page. Any suggestions?
I’m on Facebook as Author Karen R. Thorne.

I don’t get how to sign up as a member. I tried, it just puts me on the mailing list. I can’t see where to sign in, and I’m not even sure if I’m signed up. I didn’t get the badge mentioned, it’s been slightly frustrating. Cheers…

Apologies, Pavan, that your name did not appear in the Visionary Fiction database page until now. It was in duplicate in the actual database. I see that you have two email addresses theshapeoflife@gmail.com and pavanswan@live.com. Which do you prefer to be listed by? I will update the database as soon as I hear from you. Thanks much and welcome, if belated. Vic Smith, Admin

I’m trying to join as well but don’t see a link. I’ve written a visionary Song of Creation, and a couple of visionary kids books that’s I’d like to promote here. are there other instructions that are missing?

Hello. I am about half way through writing my first children’s fiction. I came across your website while doing some research on visionary fiction and I am interested in joining the group.
I do not have an official website created yet. Will a facebook page for my writing be sufficient to join the VFA?

Of course you can join. You’ll find this group to be a valuable support system. The link is on the left side of the menu. Good luck with your writing!

Thank you Eleni. I clicked the link and completed the form and the popup had me save the email address to my contacts. However, I have not received the confirmation email.
Does that take a while to go through, or should I expect something immediately?

Hi Anne:
I just checked the database and couldn’t find your name. Did you Click on the link on the left sidebar? I can send you the information. Maybe something is blocking your form from reaching my address. I’m going to add you manually. You should receive a join email shortly.

Thanks Eleni. I got your email and am working on setting up the banner to my Facebook page. That will take some effort, not sure how it will work. (Suggestions welcome from anyone!)
To answer your question, I clicked on the Join the VFA link from the left menu bar, which brought me back to this page. Then I clicked on “here” in Join the Visionary Fiction Alliance here above which took me to a form. It appeared to work, I just never got the confirmation email.
Hope that is helpful.
Thank you again,
Anne

Hi Eleni,
I tried to sign up as an author and I entered my website (www.jkgreene.com) in the appropriate space on the application form, but when I hit the submit button I got an error message saying I needed to enter a URL. I tried again and the same thing happened. Not sure what I am doing wrong.

I learned about you from a blog by Ellis Nelson. I’ve actually so far published one book that totally fits this genre and it’s a novella. But, having a genre gives me impetus to complete the many stories and books that have been dormant. I look forward to seeing our visions manifest through this group.

Such a wonderful site to inspire a feeling of simple belonging. Thanks to Eleni and Victor. And thanks too to Jolene Turner for this quote which I paraphrase: Visionary Fiction is a unique genre. It infuses story with spiritual and metaphysical themes meant to catalyze shifts of consciousness.” Yes! Such clarity on what we intend. I’ve published a novel called, “Quantum Venus & the Magic Theatre” on Kindle. Hardly anyone reads it but that’s okay because it probably needs a professional and sensitive edit before I do print-on-demand. Any suggestions?

Thanks for your comment, Ellen. Editing followed by proofreading is vital as an indie author. I can give my recommendations privately. Just send me an email, but you can also check out our resource page which does have links to such services.

I just completed writing a visionary/mystical/spiritual fiction debut novel, 10 years in the making, really having a challenge to classify into the right genre terms.
Just starting the hunt for a good review, a publisher, or literary agent, and would like to get there sooner than later. Any best advice?

At least, a genre into which my novel can call home. “All That Time” is relatively scientific, certainly fiction. However, science-fiction never quite described my time-travel odyssey. An early mentor said, “I am stuck with trying to find a genre for your story.” I have often described “All That Time” as “sci-fi lite,” but even that did not quite do the job. “Visionary Fiction” best describes my story of a 55-year-old man who travels back forty years in time, inside the mind of his 15-year-old self. There, with all the maturity, knowledge and experience he has gained over a lifetime, he sees his adolescence very differently from the original version and is able to make adjustments that will impact his future.
